June 2025

While most were starting their summer vacations, our interns were hard at work using all the extra time they had.
We continued to kanu and travel...and serve and learn.

Our service learning trips this month took us to Go Farm Hawaii in Waimanalo, Seeds4Tomorrow at the Hawaii Agriculture Research Center, and the Kaʻala Bog. We learned more about how important planning is to a garden, how research helps farmers, and about the characteristics of a bog (like the soil is really acidic which is why the trees are so short). While we were learning we removed lots of morning glory from a corn field, sorted some compost and cleared a bed to prepare for planting, and removed invasive blackberries (ouch they're pokey!).
