Summer 2025

In June we took alakaʻi to Hawaiʻi island for an overnight huakaʻi at Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge. Kumu Leah and Kumu Eric were amazing hosts who taught haumāna to identify calls of the native birds and how to calculate the age of a 1000 year old ohiʻa tree.
Before leaving the refuge, we got to kōkua the restoration efforts, planting mamane trees to add to the 500,000 trees planted at the refuge over the last 40 years.

Our summer service learning included kōkua for Kaukau 4 Keiki and continuing to care for the māla at Kahumana.
